Thomas Carnegie joined the Foreign Service in March 2002. He is currentlyserving as an economic officer in the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala covering arange of issues including aviation, ports, environment, intellectual propertyprotection, anti-money laundering, and telecommunications.
He previouslyserved in the U.S. Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador and in Washington, D.C.as the Coordinator of the Digital Freedom Initiative and Director ofTelecommunication and IT Policy for Sub-Saharan Africa.
His previous professional experience includes roles as a Senior ManagementConsultant and Project Manager for the FAA, IRS, U.S. Army and D.C.Government; Legal Assistant for a telecommunications law firm, and GuestRelations Manager and TQM Coordinator in the hotel industry.A native of New Jersey, Mr. Carnegie attended Montville High School andreceived a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University with dual majors inPolitical Science and Economics.
He received a Masters of InternationalPolicy and Practice at George Washington University's Elliott School ofInternational Affairs. He speaks Spanish and is married with two daughters.(June 2008)
